ABOUT THE LAZARUS PROJECT

Welcome to The Lazarus Project – a beacon of hope and compassion in the heart of Emanuel County, guided by the teachings of Matthew 25:35: "I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Our mission is rooted in these timeless words, inspiring us to serve our community and uplift those in need.

Our Beginnings

Founded through a joint venture between Beacon of Hope Church of God and First Methodist Men, The Lazarus Project started with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide gently used furniture and appliances to individuals and families facing crises. Our humble origins in a small location laid the foundation for what would become a transformative community endeavor.

A Testament of Faith

As we reflect on our journey, we recognize the guiding hand of Jesus. What began in a modest space soon evolved into the current facility, generously provided by the grace of God. This building not only accommodates the storage of essential furniture but also offers ample space for our newest endeavor – a food pantry that extends our mission to address food insecurity in Emanuel County. Even though our mission began with only two churches, we now have donors, volunteers, and community leaders representing numerous churches, civic organizations, school programs, clubs, etc., coming together to honor God by serving others.

Our Mission

At the core of The Lazarus Project is a mission to foster a resilient, healthy community where no one goes hungry, and where the warmth of Christian hospitality touches every life. We believe in the power of collaboration, compassion, and community spirit to bring hope and sustenance to those who need it most.

Community, Compassion, and Collaboration

Our success is not measured solely by the services we provide but by the strength of our community ties. We are grateful for the support of dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and community leaders who share our vision. Together, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.

As Proverbs 11:25 beautifully states, "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." This principle guides our approach, emphasizing the reciprocal nature of generosity – as we refresh the lives of others, we too find ourselves renewed.

Join Us in Making a Difference

As we embark on this journey, we invite you to become a part of The Lazarus Project family. Whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word, your involvement contributes to the well-being of our community. Together, we can build a future where no one is left hungry, where compassion knows no bounds, and where The Lazarus Project continues to be a symbol of hope for generations to come.

Thank you for being a vital part of our story. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate future for Emanuel County.
